I provide complete in home post-partum services and continue to care for both mama and the newborn in the first six weeks of life. It is important to evaluate your healing by having regularly scheduled visits. Referral to other practitioners may be arranged to ensure a healthy recovery.

Immediate Care

  • Baby with the mother at all times
  • Leaving the umbilical cord intact to ease baby's transition immediately after birth.
  • Breastfeeding is encouraged and we can assist you with first latch and nursing
  • Gentle Monitoring of both the mother and baby's well-being; I will manage any situation that arises or causes concern
  • A Newborn Exam is done next to the mother
  • Newborn procedures will be done as desired by the informed consent of parents
  • Help mama to get cleaned up and comfortable after birth
  • Immediate post-partum concerns discussed and hand out given prior to midwives leaving.
  • Midwives provide in-home support until all is well after birth.
  • Cleaning of the birth room or birthing tub is done by us and we will start the laundry
  • On-call services continue for any questions or concerns you may have following your birth

After Care

Five scheduled post-partum visits, include: mamas recovery and vitals, breastfeeding support, newborn checks. On-call support continues during this post-partum period. I will file the birth certificate and can provide the metabolic screen for your newborn.

  • 24-hour visit after birth
  • A visit when your breastmilk comes in on day 3 or 4
  • One week visit
  • Two week visit
  • Six week visit
  • Well Woman care offered for annual paps and labs
  • More home visits are arranged if there are any concerns during your recovery
